CHAD KROEGER ANNOUNCES GRAMMY RECORD OF THE YEAR, TALKS FEMALE POWER
Mariah Carey, John Legend and Kanye West each received eight Grammy Award nominations for the 48th Annual Grammy Awards, which were announced at Gotham Hall in New York City on Wednesday (December 8). Chad Kroeger, vocalist for Nickeback, was the sole rock representative among the presenters which included top nominees, Legend and Carey. |
Bruce Springsteen, U2, and Gwen Stefani were among the top rock nominees with five apiece. The coveted Record Of The Year, was read by Kroeger, with one of the to be announced nominees standing right behind him. |
“Good morning. We’ve got, for record of the year, take a guess. Mariah Carey for ‘We Belong Together’ Gorillaz featuring De La Soul for ‘Feel Good, Inc.’ Green Day for ‘Boulevard Of Broken Dreams.’ Gwen Stefani for ‘Hollaback Girl,’ and Kanye West for ‘Gold Digger'” |
We caught up with Kroger just minutes after leaving the stage for the announcements, and asked him about the absence of Nickelback nominations and who he thinks will win this year. |
“I don’t know if we got one. I saw some of the categories, I mean there’s hundreds of categories. I don’t think we’re going to get one this year due to when our record came out and when it landed, but I’ve got my boys right behind me. Big And Rich. They’ve got one. I’ve got my fingers crossed for them. Gwen Stefani got a lot. Gwen Stefani got a bunch. I think it’s going to be the year of the ladies.” |
Kroeger and Carey chatted each other up during the ceremony, but when asked what they talked about, Kroeger had to take the fifth (ammendment). |
