HARD-FI GETS ANOTHER PUSH FROM LABEL
Hard-Fi, while carving out a comfortable career in the U.K. on the heels of their latest release Stars Of CCTV, in the U.S. it remains a different story. The band has done some promotion, but their record label, Atlantic Records, is once more trying to see if U.S. alternative radio will bite on the band. |
The label has once-again serviced “Cash Machine” in the hopes that their style carved from house music to New Order, catches on in late 2005, early 2006. Vocalist Richard Archer said that they can’t escape their late ’80s early ’90s influences, and he talks about which artists got him passionate about music. |
“I mean for me, anyway, I was kind of like at school when the whole Manchester thing was going off in the U.K. so you had Happy Mondays and Stone Roses and all that kind of thing. And then after that Nirvana came along and these were the sort of bands that were really sort of going off when I was at the age where all that matters is the bands. That’s all that matters. I had an older brother as well, so he got me into New Order and The Clash and things like that. I love New Order and I used to love lots of synthesized stuff. They came from a guitar background and they got into that whole early house thing, and they bring out Blue Monday, which is still one of my favorite-ever records. It still never fails to deliver.” |
Hard-Fi has a few dates left to play. They’ve got a handful of sold-out shows in the U.K. this month running through December 19. There are plans for the band to come back to the U.S. but nothing solid at press time. |
