Korn’s new album See You On The Other Side has come in at Number Three on this week’s Billboard 200 album chart. The collection was spurred on by the track “Twisted Transistor,” and it marks the sixth time one of their albums has debuted in the Top 5 of the Billboard 200 album chart. |
The album sold close to 221,000 copies in its first week of release, and 30 percent of those were the deluxe editions, which featured songs not featured on the standard version. The album is the first for their new label partner, Virgin Records, and the band signed a “partnership” agreement rather than a record deal. Vocalist Jonathan Davis told our cameras how their partnership differs from a standard record deal. |
“For us it was good, because we’re not working for a label anymore. I feel like we’re going out there and making this label all this money while we’re not making anything off the record. So when we did this deal it was like a 70-30 split. It’s an incentive deal for the label to do their job because they’re going to be getting a cut of our touring and our merchandise and anything we bring in, video games, videos, what ever it is. We all split everything. So if the record label does their job and promotes us correctly and we’re successful, the more we all win.” |
Korn’s other releases that debuted in the Top 5 include 2004’s Greatest Hits, 2002’s Untouchables, 1999’s Issues, 1998’s Follow The Leader, 1996’s Life Is Peachy. |
