Time magazine has named Bill and Melinda Gates as well as U2’s Bono as “Persons Of The Year” for 2005. The Gates were chosen for their huge contributions to chartiy and Bono was chosen for his will to power Live 8 and partially relieve the debt of Africa with mate Bob Geldof, and his tireless pursuit of a solution to the AIDS epidemic. |
Bono was also up for the Nobel Peace Prize this year, but backstage at the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame he said that he’s had too much good luck in his life to recieve such an honor. |
“I’m not sure a rock star who is already having the cream on the cake will ever have a Nobel Peace Prize. I’m just having the best life anyone can ever be given just as it is being in a rock and roll band.” |
Bono told the magazine that the contribution of the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation will be remembered more by history than what he acomplished. The biggest feat has been saving 700,000 lives across the world with vaccination programs. |
