CASSIDY BREAKS HIS SILENCE
Cassidy may have dodged a murder conviction, but he faces up to two years for involuntary manslaughter and two counts of aggravated assault for an April 15 incident in his home. |
Cassidy, whose real name is Barry Reese, released a statement from Philadelphia’s Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility on his situation. The rapper said, “While I am pleased that I was cleared of the murder charges, my satisfaction is not long lasting, because of the death of someone who I considered to be my friend, Des Hawkins” |
Desmond Hawkins, 22, was killed after a shoot out between two groups of men at Cassidy’s residence on April 15. The shells removed from the scene matched the ammunition kept in the rapper’s home. |
Cassidy insists that he will not promote the incident, but rather learn from it and hope others do as well. He is looking forward to his release in two to three months due to time already served. |
He explained, “As a father of a young child myself, spending much time on the road and in the studio, away from home, I am relieved that I will soon be home.” |
