R&B singer Ciara, John Legend, Maroon 5, Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas, Joss Stone, Robert Randolph and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry will all take part in an all-star tribute to Sly and the Family Stone at this year’s Grammy Awards which will be held in Los Angeles on Wednesday, February 8th. |
Ciara, who is up for four Grammy’s this year, learned something very important by participating in the tribute. The singer explained that growing up in Atlanta, she thought Arrested Development’s rendition of “Everyday People” was the original. The singer said, |
“When I first found out that I was doing a tribute to Sly and The Family Stone, they said the name of the song that you’re doing is ‘Everyday People.’ So me I grew up thinking that the people that created ‘Everyday People’ was Arrested Development. So I’m like, I’m in the mirror like, ‘Waba waba waba waba.’ There was some little thing at the end of the song. So I’m like, ‘The downtown, something, something.’ I’m like is that what I’m gonna do. Then I get the song, the CD sent to me of how it goes and then I hear how it goes and I’m like, ‘This is not what I was hearing.” |
Ciara also shared her thoughts on attending the Grammy Awards for the first time. She said, |
“This is like the Oscars of music so for it to be my first experience being here, just to begin to say I’m nominated then to add the fact that I’m performing, that’s big. Like I can’t complain, I feel so blessed.” |
Ciara is hoping to take home a Grammy Award and the singer would obviously prefer the best new artist award. But she’s up against John Legend, Fall Out Boy, Keane, and Sugarland in that category. |
