The Brit Awards are set to take place on Wednesday night in the U.K. and it comes just one week after the Grammy Awards in the U.S. The U.K.’s biggest night is set to feature many of the same stars, but add Kaiser Chiefs and James Blunt to the mix. |
Coldplay’s music is huge in both countries, and drummer Will Champion and vocalist Chris Martin said that award shows are good place to meet fellow musicians, and said that the Grammys were guaranteed fun. |
[Champion] “There’s always some interesting collaborations. They mix it up and make things really exciting but also just generally, like you say, it’s not often that you get a chance to meet fellow…people that do the same thing you do. And when you’re on tour you’re in this traveling bubble, and you just roll around the world and you don’t really get to see anyone. Sothings like this are really exciting, because it’s a chance to meet up with people. For one day, all these separate parts collide in the middle of L.A., and it’s good fun. [Martin] “Any event where you’re sat two rows down from Jay-Z is going to be fun.” |
The Brit Awards, the U.K.’s answer to the Grammys, airs on British TV on Wednesday, February 15, and the leading nominees are Kaiser Chiefs and James Blunt with five apiece. |
