LEFT OUT IN THE COLD, BAND BREAKS UP
Zakk Wylde, who recently spoke of his new Disciple and Bullseye Guitars, talked about his split with Ozzy Osbourne. |
With Finch calling it a day, news also has surfaced that emo-metal band Cold have also packed it in. Despite a significant and loyal following, the band was caught in label politics. When Lava Records folded and the orphaned band was handed to Atlantic, their main bigwig supporter Jason Flom was fired, leaving them without an ally at Atlantic Records. |
In a statement on the website, vocalist Scooter Ward thanked his supporters at the label and thanked fans, but he said that in the end it wasn’t enough. In an interview conducted just days afer the label was pulled from under them, Scooter Ward wasn’t phased, having gone through the label game before. |
“Dude, we’re used to it. We’re used to it. We’ve been on five different labels in four years. It’s like, whatever. It’s all about making music and playing shows and whatever happens, happens. I don’t know.” |
At the time, Ward attributed the band’s longevity to their dedicated and loyal fanbase. |
“Well, yeah. I mean, as long as we have our fans, Cold Army is really loyal to us because of all the attention we give them and and the respect that we give them, they give it right back to us. Unlike some bands that don’t have real fans, we do. As long as we’re OK with the record we’ve created and they’re OK with it, that’s all that matters.” |
Moving on from the band Ward and bandmate Sam McCandless are forming a new project, and Ward insists he’ll be back. Cold had a minor hit with “Stupid Girl,” and have had countless good, not great, selling albums. |
