LEELA JAMES ENJOYS HER FIRST TRIP TO THE SOUL TRAIN AWARDS
Leela James released her debut album, A Change Is Gonna Come, last summer. While the set was critically acclaimed, it failed to garner any commercial success. James explained that being nominated for a Soul Train Award was validation for her. The singer, who performed at the show, said, |
James has been busy touring with Kem and the singer is slated to perform on CBS Early Show on April 22nd. |
“Oh it’s been exciting just to witness the goings that take place in the actual ceremony, the show. To meet Don Cornelius, personally, that was nice. Just to be a part of the event for me meant a lot. You know I didn’t necessarily win the award but just to be nominated and acknowledged, you know, to me represented you know a certain sense of……just giving some what of credibly to the fact that there are people that pay attention to what you do.” |
The 20th Annual Soul Train Awards will air in syndication starting March 11th |
A Change Is Gonna Come features the production of Kanye West, Raphael Saadiq, Wyclef Jean, James Poyser, and Chucky Thompson. |
