SEVENDUST, RE-ENERGIZED, BOOKS MORE DATES
Sevendust has been infused with new life now that guitarist Clint Lowery has left to form Dark New Day, and it has translated into more tour dates. The band recently got finished playing dates with Non-Point and Socialburn, and they’ll take about a month off before starting their next leg of dates in support of, Next. |
The band’s Lajon Witherspoon told us that the addition of guitarist Sonny Mayo, formerly of the band Snot, infused new life into them. |
“The energy is still there. Like I said, is still there. With the member it’s like having a new girlfriend in your life within the band if you want to call the band a ‘she’ too. It’s like we’re lovers, It’s incredible. It makes everything exciting. Wait a minute! We’re not lovers! YOu know what I mean, it makes it… Sonny really put a spark under our asses to make us remember how lucky and fortunate we were to be in the spot and the position that we’re in.” |
Sevendust’s Morgan Rose added that it was apparent that Lowery, before his departure, wanted a greater voice and that he wasn’t motivated in the band. |
“There were times when it’s like, ‘I want my voice heard.’ And we’re like, ‘Well, you definitely have a fifth of it, and actually at this point it’s more like three-fifths. But, I can’t give you five fifths. I can’t give you the whole f–kin’ deal. You’ve got to be able to shut the hell up for a minute and let somebody else say something instead of sitting there and going, ‘This is so great [expressionless with head down].'” |
Sevendust is on tour through May 21 in Evansville, Indiana with more dates forthcoming. |
