Hoobastank had a monster hit with 2003’s title track to The Reason, and it’s that success that has raised the bar for their forthcoming effort Every Man For Himself.

The multi-platinum effort followed in the footsteps of their self-titled debut which reached platinum status. During a recent interview at New York City’s Hard Rock Cafe, vocalist Doug Robb talked about the record company’s desire for another “reason” to keep them on the label.

“They never flat out said, ‘You know, we want another Reason. They just want another hit song. It’s more pressure for yourself, and it’s not really to duplicate success because there’s so many variables that go into a successful song like ‘The Reason’ or other things that are so out of out control. We just write the music and the rest is kind of up to the world.”

Hoobastank’s run of free club tour dates ends on Thursday, April 27. The album Every Man For Himself arrives in stores May 16.
