Twelve and Holding star Jeremy Renner plays a carpenter in the film. In real life he’s pretty handy with a hammer building his own homes, except when he misses the nail.

Renner has something in common with movie star turned architect Brad Pitt. On the set of the upcoming film The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford the guys caught moments comparing blueprints.

“That comes from real life experience, that horrible looking thumb. It’s not painted. It’s from building a deck or trying the attempt thereof. I’m more of an architect in design but not really a carpenter. Building a deck in my backyard. I screamed like a schoolgirl. That’s all I could think about for three or four days. It’s awful.”

To date Jeremy has built and designed eight homes in the styles of Spanish, mid-century, French Normandy, English Tutor, traditional and Cape Cod.

“Yeah in the moments that we could spend together besides when we were working and what not we talked just a bit in passing about architecture and building. I think if we stat down one on one and really spent time together that we’d have probably a ton in common. Yeah, what a grand guy. He’s just a really really cool kid but avoiding paparazzi most of the time.”
