Chamillionaire’s major label debut, Sound of Revenge, is Number 31 on the Billboard 200 album charts after moving another 37,000 copies last week. The album, which has been in stores since November, has sold 802,000 copies since its release according to Nielsen Soundscan. The album should hit the platinum one million mark before the end of the summer. |
Chamillionaire’s success may seem like an overnight story but the rapper has been perfecting his craft for several years. He began his career as a member of Swishahouse crew and later he and Paul Wall formed their own group. Chamillionaire explained how much he learned by just watching early on in his career. He said, |
“You know I definitely feel like I learned a lot, you know. Even Slim Thug with his situation, he was at Swishahouse and he broke off and started doing his own thing. I got to see what happened and him turn nothing into something. I was just watching all that happen in so many different directions. You had J. Prince out there, doing all lot of stuff with Rap-A-Lot. You know I was sitting there you know, being a student of the game. Just watching and learning it before I got into it and then when I got into it, it was time to go, you know.” |
The latest single from the album, “Ridin” featuring Krayzie Bone, is Number Three on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. |
