Maroon 5 continues to be feted at awards shows, this time it was the BMI Awards, which took place in Los Angeles last week. The band shared Co-Songwriter Of The Year awards with rap star, Lil Jon. The band was chosen because their songs “This Love,” “Sunday Morning,” and “She Will Be Loved” all made it into the most performed list. “She Will Be Loved” actually took Song Of The Year honors. |
Backstage, Maroon 5 vocalist Adam Levine discussed how a band knows they have a great song on their hands. |
“I think that if you write a great song you want to listen to it, just like anybody else would. So if you write a song and you want to hear it over and over again and you don’t know why, you’re either incredibly narcissistic and kind of an a**hole, or you’ve written a good song. It doesn’t get old so quickly to you. If it doesn’t get old with the songwriter, and if you’re really being honest with yourself, that’s going to translate tenfold to anybody else that’s going to listen to it.” |
Maroon 5 also did some playing as Levine hooked up with bandmate Mickey Madden for a tribute to the night’s Icon winners, Crosby Stills And Nash. They performed the trio’s classic, “Our House.” |
