Former vice president Al Gore takes his environmentally friendly political agenda to the big screen with the documentary An Inconvenient Truth. The film follows Gore’s platform of recognizing global warming as a worldwide problem. Gore says the truth must be revealed or there will be consequences to pay. |
An Inconvenient Truth takes a hard look at our relationship between civilization and the planet. Gore insists it’s not just a political issue but a wake-up call for America to take action against this impending environmental crisis. |
“It’s all about the truth, the situation we’re facing now and it’s really hard for any of us to take a hard unblinking look at what our circumstances are now. We’ve quadrupled the population of the planet in less than a century. Our technologies are a thousand times more powerful. Now all of a sudden we’re capable of doing damage to our only home that we never could do in the past. We have to quickly grasp the danger this creates. Now there’s also opportunity once we face the danger and decide to solve the crisis. We can do it. We have everything we need save perhaps political will but that’s a renewable resource.” |
Gore believes that facing the problem of global warming is the most crucial challenge we’ll face in our lifetime. An Inconvenient Truth is directed by David Guggenheim, best known for helming episodic television such as Deadwood, The Shield and 24. |
“The main message of the film is that this really isn’t about politics or ideology at all. This is a moral issue, an ethical issue and in the highest sense it really is a spiritual issue. What responsibility do we have to our children and grandchildren and future generations? Because if we listen carefully and clearly to what the scientific community of the entire world is saying not just saying, they’re shouting it now, saying ‘hey wake up!’ We’re facing a planetary emergency here.” |
