LINKIN PARK, FORT MINOR SHINODA TO WORK MTV VIDEO MUSIC…
(VIDEO) Will Linkin Park/Fort Minor’s Mike Shinoda once again work with MTV for the video music awards? Shinoda said he had a blast the first time… here! |
Mike Shinoda is riding high with the pop success of his Fort Minor and he’s co-producing the next Linkin Park album, but will Shinoda add something else to his plate? The talented rapper/songwriter scored the MTV Video Music Awards last year, and this year rumors are swirling that he’ll do the same for the late summer/early fall event. |
Shinoda talked about working in conjunction with crunk star Lil Jon to score last year’s event. |
“When MTV came to me about scoring the VMA’s I kind of didn’t know what to think because it was the first time they had ever done it. There was no precendent, there was nothing to base any idea on, so I had to just run with whatever I had in mind. I think the best part of that particular project the way MTV did it is they gave me creative freedom to do whatever I wanted to do. If you listen to the tracks I did they’re all over the place. They paired me up with Lil Jon. We each did our own tracks. We didn’t actually work together, and then when it came time for the show, we got to the show, and they’re playing our tracks all over the thing and they sat us togeher. That was really fun, because he hadn’t heard any of my traks and I hadn’t heard any of his. So we’re sitting there, like, every time one comes on we’d say to the other guy, ‘Oh, that one’s me.’ That was cool.” |
Fort Minor’s latest track, with newcomer Holly Brook on vocals, is “Where’d You Go,” and it’s currently at Number Five on the CHR Pop chart. Meanwhile, Shinoda is working hard on the next Linkin Park record. |
