AFI was on hand at the MTV Movie Awards on Saturday, June 3. No, vocalist Davey Havoc wasn’t nominated for his role as a hairdresser in the animated movie Live Freaky, Die Freaky. The band was there to provide entertainment as a musical guest for the awards and to promote their forthcoming album. |
Havoc told us on the red carpet, what the band will be doing. |
“We’re playing ‘Miss Murder’ tonight the first single off our new record, which comes out on Tuesday.” |
Havoc was then asked about Saturday being the first time the band has been to the movie awards. |
“At the movie awards? Yes, but we were at the VMAs before. This is our first time being a part of the movie awards, which is real exciting for us to be able to cross into that realm, into that world being a rock band invited to the movie awards. It’s an honor…. It’s very exciting to be here. it’s a great environment. It’s a great opportunity. We’ve been watching MTV since we’ve been growing up, and we’re all huge, huge fans of film so to be here in this environment is great.” |
AFI’s new album Decemberunderground hits stores on Tuesday, and the single “Miss Murder” has already skyrocketed into the top 10 on the Alternative rock chart. |
Catch the full performance when the MTV Movie Awards airs on MTV this Thursday, June 8. Check local listings for start time and channel. |
