HELMET MEETS EMINEM?
(VIDEO) Helmet’s Page Hamilton has hooked up with Eminem’s next musical endeavor… Watch this! |
Helmet’s Page Hamilton is still cooperating with Interscope records despite his band parting with the label. He still kept in touch with big-wigs over at that label, and he’s working with their new hip-hop artist Bleste Union. The group comes from Eminem’s camp and is championed by the rapper’s manager. |
Page Hamilton is helping lay some inovative guitar parts, and he talked about the project. |
“Jimmy Iovine has been a great champion of me as a musician, and even though it wasn’t really working out with Interscope thing this time around he met with Paul Rosenberg who manages Eminem, and he had signed this band to Geffen. And Steve Berman, who also works at Interscope called me up and said, ‘Would you come in and meet with these guys?’ I’m like ‘Hell yeah. I love Eminem. These guys are good.’ and it turns out they’re amazing. I love what they do.” |
Hamilton said that the rock world has gotten stale and sanitized. |
“A lot of rock is getting so stale for me right now because bands just… it’s like they have their balls chopped off. It’s like It’s like, ‘Ok, you wanna be in a rock band? Let’s castrate you.’ You get pro-tools and do what everybody else is doing. And rap, there’s still this…a thing there’s still great harmonically and rhythmically inventive things going on — there’s a lot of crap rap too — but there’s some great stuff. It was great we spent a couple of days in the studio and wrote some stuff and they’re working on it. They’re going to send me stuff on the road, and I’ll overdub guitar things. They’re going to be great. I can’t wait to hear their record. It’s really good stuff. They can rap their asses off and the music is amazing so it’s cool.” |
The group’s debut album is set to be released later this year. Meanwhile, Helmet’s new album, Monochrome, is set for release July 18. |
