BRANDON ROUTH RUN RAGGED BY SUPERMAN
Before playing Superman Brandon Routh was just another struggling actor trying to make ends meet by bartending and doing bit parts in soap operas such as One Life to Live. So it took a bit of an adjustment when the most high profile job came his way. Brandon says he never had to work so much in his life and was run ragged by training to become The Man of Steel. |
Continuing the legacy of Superman as a role model to young and old people alike is what kept Brandon committed to the film no matter how arduous the task. |
“It was the flying mixed in with just the length of the shoot. I never worked that much in my life. I had a lot of day jobs and done a lot of weird things for work but I never worked basically for a year. I was in training four months before we started shooting lifting at 4AM or running through the pitch black park at 4AM in the morning, and then going to the set and make-up and shooting a 14 or 16 hour day was kind of excruciating sometimes.” |
“In this film I think where we’ve taken it to a place of real relevance and to be a role model to people, for young people and old people. To people who really want to see him for that, he is that. For me he’s always been that and the spirit of Superman is so great and can unite people of all walks of life. That’s what I trust it will do and it’s always great to have that presence in the world.”rn |
