Rapper and actor LL Cool J released an album, Todd Smith, in April and the rapper plans to release another album, Todd Smith, Part 2: Back to Cool, this fall. He’s recruited rap heavyweight 50 Cent to co-executive produce the project. LL told MTV, “It’s my last Def Jam record so I wanted to make it something special and something really unique and kinda get back to my roots a little bit. 50 (Cent) reminds me a lot of the things that I used to do and the places I used to be in my life, and I think we can have a good time together.” |
Cool J added, “He’s talented and I feel like I have something I want to say — I think he can help me get it off my chest.” |
“Nobody wants to do anything for ever. You know every chapter ends but that doesn’t mean that the book is over. So you know I’m enjoying myself. I have one album left on my Def Jam contract right now. I’m going to do that record and God willing drop in November and we’ll see what happens after that. I’m not looking to sign another ten album deal. I tell you that much.” |
LL Cool J and 50 Cent have already started to work together. Cool J, 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, and newcomer Hot Rod are featured on the remix of LL’s “Freeze,” which is titled “You Can Bump This.” |
Last month, LL Cool J was presented with the Golden Note Award at the 19th annual ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Awards in Beverly Hills. The rapper shared that the day may come when he may stop rapping. He said, |
