EDWARD BURNS SHOOTS NEW YORK
Edward Burns comes from the Woody Allen school of filmmaking, well at least until Woody discovered England, where you shoot films about what you know and where you come from. The Groomsmen is Queens born Burns’ love letter to the unknown areas of New York that we don’t often see in movies. |
Burns was raised on Long Island and currently makes his home in New York where he purchased the late John F. Kennedy, Jr.’s Manhattan loft in Tribeca for over $2 million. His next project Purple Violets starring Selma Blair and Debra Messing is taking advantage of downtown Manhattan locations including the Corner Bistro in the West Village.rn |
“That kind of goes back to the love letter to the burbs and also a love letter to New York. There are these other pockets of the boroughs that people don’t usually think of when they think of the Bronx such as City Island where the bulk of the film is shot. Or even Ditmas, Brooklyn not a great neighborhood where we shot a bulk of the film in. We are New York filmmakers, it’s important for us to tell New York stories but even more important to tell those New York stories in New York City.” |
