KEVIN SMITH SHOCKED ROSARIO DAWSON ACCEPTED ROLE
Rosario Dawson plays the other woman in Clerks 2 who has an affair with the soon to be married Dante played by Brian O’ Halloran. Director Kevin Smith was shocked when she accepted the role feeling she would lower her standards and star status, let alone agree to have sex on screen with Brian. |
Rosario’s mild character is a far cry from the vixen in Sin City. She says she accepted the role because she liked the idea of being the other woman who doesn’t get picked in the end and felt liberated by being average instead of the hot one. |
“We were like no way she’s going places in her career. She doesn’t want to hitch her wagon to our star, we’re heading down. And when she said yeah we were shocked and we were flabbergasted and we were delighted. And all of a sudden we were like nobody’s gonna believe that she would have sex with Brian O’Halloran. It’s not gonna work. And the beauty of her performance is such that you do believe it. She’s so genuine and so real and so one of the boys and so down to earth you just buy it. You say, ‘yeah she kinda would.'” |
“Not only am I the other woman, I’m the one that’s not attractive to rnhim because he thinks he’d be like settling. That’s not so sexy. But it was fun actually playing the not so sexy role in that way and really making it work on relationship and not because she’s so vivacious and hot. It’s just because she’s a great girl and he’s a great guy.” |
