(VIDEO) Hoobastank shows could prove too much for the fans of “The Reason”

Hoobastank’s new album Every Man For Himself could prove to be a disappointment for those expecting to find ten songs like “The Reason.” Equally annoying might be the fact that a Hoobastank show isn’t an easy listening event.

While the huge success of “The Reason” might have hurt the band’s credibility somewhat, the band is steeped in heavy rock — something that vocalist Doug Robb said would prove very uncomfortable for someone expecting a soft rock show.

“The fans of our that were fans from the first record and the past first single on The Reason, which was “Out Of Control,” which was another heavy song, I think they knew what to expect. That’s just kind of what it was, and then when “The Reason” came out we gained obviously a whole new audience with that. Yeah,I think there was a little bit of shock coming to see us live with people going, ‘Dude, these guys aren’t real soft.’ I don’t mind. It is what it is.”

Hoobastank’s Robb said that if you are a fan of just “The Reason,” he’s not too interested in keeping you around.

“Well I think if you’re a fan of only “The Reason” and you don’t like any of our other music, then honestly I’m not too interested in keeping you as a fan. I mean it sounds terrible. I’m all for it if you heard us from “The Reason” and like the rest of the record, then our show is not going to scare you away. It’s just a good time. It’s a rock show, you know? But if you only like “The Reason,” and you really don’t like any of the record, then you’re not going to like the show and you’re probably not going to like the band, so don’t come.”

Hoobastank’s latest single from Every Man For Himself is “Inside Of You,” and it currently sits at Number 28 on the Alternative Rock chart.
