JASON MEWES RETURNS TO CLERKS 2 CLEAN AND SOBER

Life started imitating art a bit too much for Clerks star Jason Mewes who played a philosophical druggie on screen as well as off. The talky half of Jay and Silent Bob is back in Clerks 2 clean and sober. Kevin Smith talks about the difference in Mewes since he kicked the habit.

The Love Boat’s Julie McCoy had nothing on Jason who would even organize boat and pizza parties for the cast and crew. rn

“We hadn’t done Jay and Silent Bob since 2001, since Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. So doing it with him this time around when he was completely clean and sober was even more fun because I didn’t have him by the balls the whole time going ‘are we done shooting man because I want to go out and party.’ Not only was he willing to stay throughout the days he was shooting, that dude hung out on the set when he wasn’t even working. The whole first week of shooting there was no Jay and Silent Bob stuff to be done. We didn’t kick in until week two and he came down to where the location was and stayed that whole time even though he wasn’t shooting. It felt like going to camp for him because everybody was there and he’d get free breakfast burritos in the morning and he’d hang out with all these people he knows and he’s friendly with. He became Julie, the cruise director on the movie.”
