SNOOP DOGG AND LIL WAYNE TURN UP ON NEW OUTKAST ALBUM

OutKast will release their new album, Idlewild, on August 22nd. Just three days before their Prohibition Era musical also titled, Idlewild, hits theaters on Augst 25th. Big Boi explained that the new album isn’t a typical soundtrack. He said,

Idlewild will feature guest appearances from Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Sleepy Brown, Macy Gray, Scar, and others.

“Well the movie is August 25th. The album is August 22nd. It’s an OutKast album, not a traditional soundtrack. And man it’s been a long time coming, we just glad it’s about to come out man. I mean I think the people gonna enjoy it when it come out. Yeah!”

The first single is “Mighty O” which was produced by Organized Noize and features Andre 3000 and Big Boi rapping on the same track for the first time since the duo’s 2000 album, “Stankonia” which featured the hit, “Miss Jackson.” The second single from Idlewild is a Big Boi solo track, “Morris Brown” featuring Scar and Sleepy Brown.

In the Idlewild movie, Andre 3000 plays Percival, a club piano player, while Big Boi plays a nightclub manager named, Rooster. The movie also stars Terrence Howard, Ving Rhames, Faizon Love, Malinda Williams, Macy Gray, Patti LaBelle, and Cicely Tyson.
