TIM ALLEN CHALLENGES RUSSELL CROWE TO BE SHAGGY DOG

(VIDEO) Shaggy Dog star Tim Allen wonders why Russell Crowe couldn’t pull off the talking canine.

Tim Allen stars in the Disney classic the Shaggy Dog, the story of a District Attorney who gets bitten by a mystical mutt and turns into one, now on DVD. To play the talking canine Tim had to do humiliating things like run around on all fours, and be caged in the buff wearing only a tiny thong. At 50 years old Tim questions why Australian action hero Russell Crowe wasn’t considered for the role.

Tim also had a menagerie of unpredictable animals to contend with including a chimpanzee, a rabbit, four rats, a snake and Dorothy the temperamental spider monkey who was going through her time of the month. rn

“I hope it was all that Russell Crowe stuff. I mean I was naked in the cage screaming and I had a thong on. What on earth am I doing this for? I’m 50 years old. I got a little chubby for this role because it lends itself to this. Yeah, that’s the reason and I was nude in a cage. They’re giving me water through the bars and they didn’t want to open the cage because that would take time. So I’m in there drinking cups of water thinking, ‘what would it take Russell Crowe to do this?’ You don’t see him doing this. He’s got clad in armor; he’s on warships. I’m nude in a cage looking at a blue dog. What happened to my life?”
