NICOLAS CAGE: WORLD TRADE CENTER IS A STORY OF HOPE
Michael Pena had a hard time portraying the near picture perfect life of his real-life character for World Trade Center. Keywords: CSI, The Shield, Nicolas Cage. |
Nicolas Cage stars in World Trade Center, as Sergeant John McLoughlin, one of two Port Authority police officers who miraculously survived the most horrific attack when the twin towers came crashing down around them as they were trying to save innocent people who were trapped. Cage talks about the insight he gained from meeting McLoughlin. |
As the two officers McLoughlin and Will Jimeno, a rookie played by Michael Pena were pinned beneath the rubble Cage says their only hope for survival was to depend on each other. |
“One of the things I learned from talking with John was clearly how did you survive this? Where did you have to go to survive a situation like this? It’s no secret that it’s an overwhelming experience to meet someone that’s been tested to that extent the way John McLouglin has been.” |
Amidst tremendous death and despair Cage says World Trade Center also brings to light the success stories that moved him. |
“There’s nobody else in the world that knows what we’re going through or probably ever know what we’ve been through and so it’s almost like we are one. We have become attached to each other and if you die, I die. And if I survive, you’ll survive. We’re going to do this together.” |
World Trade Center directed by Oliver Stone opens today in theaters nationwide.rn |
“I was so touched by that kind of love, that kind of positive human spirit. It brings a lot of hope to a very confused world. It makes you look at the potential that there is goodness. There is heart.” |
