DISTURBED AND AVENGED SEVENFOLD AT ODDS WITH PANTERA TUNE?

Disturbed made a mark on OzzFest several years ago by doing a rendition of Pantera’s ‘Walk,’ and they even had members of the band, Vinny Paul and the late Dimebag Darrell, come on stage to jam with them. In 2006, Avenged Sevenfold has put their stamp on the song, but there are rumors floating around that there might have been tensions between the two bands because of it. |
We caught up with Disturbed singer David Draiman who set the record straight. |
“God bless ’em. We’ve done it enough. Let them go ahead and have fun with it. They do a good version of it. We used to do it not as a regular staple as part of our set. We would only do it to be honest when Vinny and Dime were out, and Dime isn’t around any more god bless his soul. So the whole purpose — unless Vinny were to make an appearance or something special was to happen somewhere — there’s no reason to do it. We did it to honor them. We didn’t choose to make it an official cover. It was done in a different sort of spirit.” |
The deviated septum surgery that David Draiman underwent has so far been successful, and the band is looking forward to getting back out on the road. Disturbed is set to embark on at tour of Europe starting September 14 in Munich, Germany. |
