TAKING BACK SUNDAY IN 30 SECONDS TO MARS SHADOW?
Taking Back Sunday lost the MTV2 Award to 30 Seconds To Mars at MTV’s Video Music Awards at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall on Thursday night. Jared Leto and company captured the award, which was voted on by close to 1.8 Million fans. |
The two actually got together the night before for the channel’s LifeBeat benefit, teaming up to raise funds for AIDS prevention, care, and research. We caught up with Taking Back Sunday at a post-VMA party and we talked about Leto’s crew beating them out. |
[Adam Lazzara] “Hey, hey, hey, what? Like I said, Jared…These things are starting to take the same shape… Jared Leto is the dreamiest man I have ever come in contact with. And I think just on that principle alone he should win every award. He should have won Best Dance Number. He should have won all of them…” [Matt Rubano] “We’re excited to be nominated. Now we’re going to have some fun. We’re just about to go into the party and we’ll get ’em next year, or something like that to get the spirits going. We’ll get ’em next time.” |
We also asked vocalist Adam Lazzara about LifeBeat. |
“Well, the LifeBeat thing was great just in the sense that it raised, I think, upwards of 100,000 dollars to go to AIDS research and things like that. It just feels awesome just to be a part of that. Just to know that we’re in a position to help that much. It was just all around good vibes the whole time.” |
Others nominated for the MTV2 Award included Lil Wayne, Yung Joc, and Three 6 Mafia. Taking Back Sunday will be on the road through Thanksgiving supporting their latest effort, Louder Now. |
