KILLSWITCH ENGAGE TO WATCH AS DAYLIGHT DIES

Killswitch Engage is set to release its new album, As Daylight Dies, on November 21. The set is the first album since 2004’s The End Of The Heartache, and only the finishing touches need to be done. |
Drummer Justin Foley and guitarist Joel Stroetzel shared that the album was the easiest and quickest they’ve ever done. |
[Joel] “When did we start? Right around, somewhere around June because everyone was gone doing their own thing. We didn’t even talk about the band for… I don’t think we talked to each other for like six or seven months except for two or three shows. [Justin]”…we finished the tour around Thanksgiving and in June we started writing. Now it’s done already. [Joel] “It ws funny though, like, bang, it was two or three weeks in and we have fifteen songs. In previous records it would take us a year to write three or four songs. For some reason everybody was just kind of in the zone, and here you go. This is it. Being away and taking a really big break is, I think, what everybody really needed. [Justin] “It’s like the can was all shook up and it was all done ready to go, we got together and… [Joel] “…every step of the process was very fast easy and refreshing, and now it’s time to mix, here you go.” |
Killswitch also talked about what is left to do between now and the release date of November 21. |
[Joel] “As of now it’s not mastered yet. We’re just pretty much finishing up the mixes now [guitarist] Adam is finishing up the mixes. We still have mastering ahead of us, probably got to a video at some point, going to do some overseas stuff for a few weeks. [Justin]”I think the artwork is about 90 percent done. [Joel] “Yeah, the artwork is almost there, just wrapping up all the little things over the next month or so…” [Justin] “…and then press to tell people about it.” [Joel] “‘Check out our new record, man!'” |
Killswitch Engage recently played the Reading and Leeds festivals in the U.K., and the band will be heading to Japan, Australia and New Zealand in October. |
