Flyboys star James Franco went beyond the call of duty to play a World War I fighter pilot; he became one. James took to the air in the Ferrari of the skies before hand with the director, an experienced pilot and was hooked. |
James who did most of his own aerobatic flying stunts knew in advance how to battle getting airsick from doing loop de loops and maneuvers in the sky. |
“I signed on about five months in advance. Tony Bell the director who is a pilot took me up in this plane, the Marchetti and did a bunch of aerobatics and I loved it so I figured I might as well get my license out of the time. So I went every day for about three months and got it.” |
There is no flying in Spiderman 3 where James reprises his role as Harry Osborne, however he did share this plot secret. |
“No I never got sick. There’s one thing I did do. There’s something you can do in Los Angeles. It’s mach combat and you can go up with a friend and you each are in a separate plane and then you each have your own military pilot in the back seat. They fly you out over the ocean, they give you the controls and you have total control. You both drop in and once you pass each other it’s a free for all. You can do whatever, seven loops in a row if you want. So I have to say he beat me four to two but he got sick twice and I didn’t.” |
Flyboys opens Friday in theaters nationwide.rn |
“Alright here’s a secret. Harry Osborne is actually related to Bruce Wayne. And Batman comes and the Joker is up to his old tricks. I team up with Batman and we go and punish the Joker.” |
