(VIDEO) Mila J says her vibe is R&B with a new school approach…..

R&B singer and rapper Mila J, whose real name is Jamila, is preparing for the release of her debut album, Split Personality. The singer began her career as a member of the quartet, TG4, but when the group disbanded music executive Chris Stokes signed her to a solo deal with his T.U.G. label. T.U.G. is also the home of Marques Houston and Omarion.

The latest single from the album, which was entirely co-written y Mila J, is “Good Lookin’ Out” featuring Marques Houston. The singer also released a buzz single, “Complete,” earlier this year.

“I would say it’s a young fresh, fresher approach to R&B. But it’s actually kinda, I feel like it’s kinda of bringing R&B back cause there’s so many R&B songs out there that are kind a like poppish so to speak. But I think I have real pure like R&B songs and it definitely has a hip hop influence behind like every song so.”

Mila J, who is Japanese, African American, and Native American, described her style as R&B with a few twists. She said,

No release date has been set for “Split Personality.”

In related news, Houston is also working on a new album, Veteran, which he plans to release in November.
