STING IS TRUDIE STYLER SAINT
(VIDEO) Sting was Trudie Styler’s saint when he ponied up the cash to save her film A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints. |
Producer and filmmaker Trudie Styler has a romantic partnership with her hubby Sting but it also became business when the financial rug was pulled out from under her company to make Dito Montiel’s autobiography A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints into a film. |
Trudie connected with Dito’s gritty story of having to leave his home at 16 in Astoria Queens for Hollywood because he felt so misunderstood by his father who is played by Chazz Palminteri in the film. |
“We lost the funding twice and our guardian angel one of our saints was Sting who stepped up. We don’t have togetherness when it comes to our careers in that I have my own production company and he pursues his life as a musician. Of course we collaborate but I’ve never really relied on him to help me out in terms of helping my movie survive because it had the rug pulled from underneath it so it was different this time but I’m gonna ask me again should the need arise. He’s very happy he got involved in this.” |
Trudie hopes A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints will touch teens going through a rough time with their parents as well as parents themselves. |
“My story was similar and fought ferociously with my father. He didn’t want me to be an actress. I wanted to be an actress so I left home and came back only when he needed me. It was amazing that I saw him for the man that he really was rather than my sort of teenage image of him who was the man who was trying to stop me being who I was. All he was, he was afraid for me. He’s passed on now but I put him up there with my group of saints very high on the list.” |
A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints stars Robert Downey Jr and is directed by the author Dito Montiel opening tomorrow. |
“It’s cathartic for me but for everybody I speak to, we’ve all got a story to tell about our parents so I think it’s very much a universal story. And from a producer’s perspective I think it will have enormous appeal to teens but also to parents so I’m very excited about that.” |
