WARREN BEATTY REMEMBERS REDS OSCAR NIGHT

(VIDEO) Award winning Reds director Warren Beatty reminisces about Oscar night on the 25th anniversary DVD.

The 1982 Oscars was the year for Reds with twelve nominations including best picture, best director, and best actor in a leading role for Warren Beatty. On the 25th anniversary DVD of Reds Beatty looks back on his fantasies about his possible acceptance speeches for the night.

Actually the 1982 Oscar for Best Picture went to Chariots of Fire.

“When I won the Academy Award I just thought if I win the best director then of course I’ll win the best picture and so I won’t bore everybody silly as I’m prone to do. I’ll thank these people when I win the best director when I have to get up again I’ll thank these other people. And of course I didn’t get up again. But I did get to say that I thought it was really quite something that this company had invested this money in this subject and that was a great tribute to what the country stood for in its capitalism and that it was a great sign of progress and a great sign of hope.”
