HUGH JACKMAN’S PETER ALLEN IMPRESSED MICHAEL CAINE
(VIDEO) The Prestige star Michael Caine had little idea who Hugh Jackman was until he was blown over by his Peter Allen in The Boy From Oz. |
Michael Caine stars in The Prestige as the older magician mentor to Hugh Jackman’s master magician Angier. The veteran actor who at one time in his career made a movie every six months says Jackman’s performance as Peter Allen in the Broadway production of The Boy From Oz was the best he’s ever seen. |
The Prestige also stars Christian Bale as Jackman’s rival magician as they compete in turn of the century London for the best trick. |
“Hugh Jackman to me, I never met Hugh Jackman before. I’d only seen him in a couple of films which I thought he was very good. But then I saw him on stage in The Boy From Oz which I thought was one of the best performances I’ve ever seen in my life by anybody anywhere. And I’ve been alive a long, long time. I’ve seen many, many shows. I think he’s a great, great wonderful actor. And he’s a lovely guy.” |
The Prestige opens Friday in theaters.rn |
“The theme of Prestige is basically friendship turning into madness. It’s about two magicians in Victorian times who are friends and then turn against each other. It becomes very murderous and of course they have incredible gigantic tricks that they have to kill each other with.” |
