HUGH JACKMAN IS MAGICAL IN THE PRESTIGE
(VIDEO) Hugh Jackman had magical moments working with co-stars Michael Caine and David Bowie in The Prestige. |
Hugh Jackman stars in The Prestige as Robert Angier, a magician in turn of the century London whose rivalry with Christian Bale’s magician Alfred Borden gets ugly and murderous. There were those pinch me moments while working on the film that Hugh says he’ll never forget like acting opposite Michael Caine who plays Cutter, his mentor and rocker David Bowie in an acting turn as the scientist Tesla who devises a magic electrical chamber for his act. |
Jackman’s meeting Bowie might’ve been magical but he also had the most embarrassing moment when he admitted to him that he scalped his $20 concert ticket for a measly $50 dollars when he was a teenager in Sydney, Australia. Hugh warns the audience to watch the film closely as the magic also lies in the story. |
“When I heard that really a lot of my work is with Michael I was absolutely thrilled. I’m such a huge fan of his. I’ve seen so many movies of his over the years and it’s one of those surreal moments when you actually turn up on set. There’s a few in this film. Turning up with David Bowie and turning up with Michael Caine are kind of days you never forget at work.” |

“The brilliance of this script I think is that the narrative is the real trick, the plot, the story. That’s where the real surprises are. There’s twists and turns at the end that I don’t think people are gonna get. I saw an ad for The Prestige in a cinema the other night and it had the byline, ‘are you watching closely?’ And with The Prestige you should be watching not only the tricks but watching the story, watching the characters because that’s where the real tricks lie.” |
