Linkin Park made an appearance at the “Black Carpet” just prior to presenting at the first annual Chainsaw Awards on music channel fuse. The band took a break from recording their new effort to attend the horror themed awards show, just in time for Halloween. |
Bassist Phoenix, with vocalist Mike Shinoda recalled the movie moment that instilled the most horror in them. |
[Phoenix]”It’s true. My favorite new horror scene is the opening segment for Jackass 2, and I kid you not, I literally have had nightmares about that. It’s not supposed to be a horror, but what are you gonna do? I don’t want to ruin it in case you haven’t seen it.” [Shinoda]”He doesn’t want to ruin it for me.” |
Linkin Park’s new album is being produced by Rick Rubin, and his status as a legend hit the band upon their last meeting when they asked Rubin what he’s been up to. |
[Phoenix] “He’s like, ‘Oh, I’ve been over in London working on the new U2 record,’ and I was like ‘Oh, OK.’ And he’s like, ‘What have you been up to?’ Nothing that cool.” [Shinoda] “I love the stories where you’re talking to Rick and he’s like ‘Maybe you should use this drum machine in the song, and we’re like, ‘Really?! I haven’t ever used that.’ He’s like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah. We used that all over the Run-DMC record,’ you know what I mean? And it’s just things like that where you think this guy’s been doing this for a long time, and making seminal records, and we’re just happy to be working with the guy.” |
Linkin Park hope to have their new effort out the first half of 2007. Meanwhile, Shinoda will hold his first art show titled Diamonds Spades Hearts Clubs in Los Angeles on November 19 at Gallery 1988. |
