TRIVIUM NEW ALBUM DEBUTS IN TOP 25, GETS PROPS FROM METALLICA AND MAIDEN
Trivium’s new album, The Crusade, has debuted at Number 25 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The album debuted in the U.K. at Number 7, which was good enough for Silver certification. |
The band has released two songs simultaneously. “Entrance Of The Conflagration” and “Anthem (We Are The Fire)” are both being played by heavy music radio and clips for both are being aired on various music channels. Matt Heafy and Travis Smith talked about recording the album. |
[Heafy] “The four of us, all we were doing is making music for the four of ourselves. When we wrote this record we didn’t care what anyone would think of it. We were just like, ‘Let’s write something that the four of us like to play and the four of us want to hear, and that’s what we did.” [Smith] “I think that’s what makes good records is being true to what you actually enjoy as an artist instead of trying to write a hit or whatever. You have to write whatever you feel, where you are at that time.” |
The band has gotten both positive and negative feedback. But the duo say they have the approval of their idols and that’s all they need. |
[Heafy] “I’m sure there was some of that. I’m sure there’s always been critiques from other bands and stuff. Obviously, recently, we’ve gotten the approval from Metallica and Iron Maiden, so anybody into those two bands…” [Smith] “Basically, it’s like, ‘OK, dude. Our heroes like us, so…” [Heafy] “They approve of what we do.” |
Trivium is on tour through November 5 in Dallas, Fort Worth. The Crusade follows in the footsteps of 2005’s Ascendancy. |
