The Prestige, the story of competing magicians who go at each other’s throats for top billing in turn of the century London pulled a magic act this weekend coming in at number one with $14,818,000 at the box office. Ricky Jay, a master magician in his own right talks about his cameo in the film. |
Ricky Jay also served as magical consultant on The Prestige where he taught Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale the tricks of the trade.rn |
“In the movie I’m playing a magician Milton and Milton is an older performer who had both Angier and Borden in their shows, in other words Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale. So in the scenes that I’m doing they’re actually helping me as assistants in the scenes.” |
The Departed came in second place with $13,675,000 and Clint Eastwood’s Flags of Our Fathers whose limited release might’ve been the reason for losing the box office battle to third place with $10,200,000.rn |
“This film runs the gamut in terms of small slight of hand and very large illusions and pieces created that have never been done before so we have a lot of different things to deal with.” |
