BOWLING FOR SOUP CATCH CHILI PEPPERS RED HANDED, TALK PROPS FOR 1985 CLIP
(VIDEO) Bowling For Soup catch Chili Peppers red handed for video concept based on 1985, band talks props from Duran Duran and Motley Crue |
Bowling For Soup is set to release their new album, The Great Burrito Extortion Case, November 7, and it follows in the footsteps of A Hangover You Don’t Deserve. Their last effort spawned the hit 1985, and the video for the song featured them decked out in outfits of some of that year’s biggest stars. |
Red Hot Chili Peppers used a similar concept in the video for “Dani California,” and the Bowling For Soup realized that Anthony Kiedis and company may have “borrowed” their idea. |
[Jaret Reddick] “Well, yeah. I think they definitely had seen our video a few times. It’s…whatever. I’m sure we’ve stolen a few things along the line.” [Gary Wiseman] “I think borrowed might be a better word.” [Erik Chandler] “Because we always return things.” [Chris Chandler] “Like shoes. We borrowed someone’s shoes for our last video, returned ’em.'” [Reddick] “They had really small feet.” |
In an interesting note, Red Hot Chili Peppers actually formed in 1983…..And speaking of 1985, the band talked about the feedback from ’80s big wigs Duran Duran and Motley Crue. |
“We did. Duran Duran likes their mention. They were a little put off that we didn’t immitate them in our video. They wished that we had done that. Motley Crue really likes the song. They liked the video so much that Tommy Lee hired the stylist that did that video as his own personal stylist now. All of it was pretty positive. I think they all felt pretty good about it.” |
The first single from Bowling For Soup’s The Great Burrito Extortion case is “High School Never Ends.” The band is currently touring and will make stops at various radio festivals this holiday season. |
