GAEL GARCIA BERNAL DOESN’T CHICKEN OUT IN BABEL
(VIDEO) Gael Garcia Bernal may have pissed off PETA by killing a chicken in Babel, even though it wasn’t a real bird. |
Gael Garcia Bernal may piss off quite a few PETA members and vegetarians when they find out he’s twirled a chicken around by its head and then snaps it off at a Mexican wedding scene in the film. Gael says he has no problem with the humane killing process used by Mexican farmers and promises that no chickens were harmed during the making of the movie. |
Gael even admitted to having killed a chicken once himself but justified the reason for doing it. |
“Well I mean people eat chickens all the time. Chicken is a world-wide delicacy. In this case we didn’t hurt chickens because it’s a film. In films you try to make everything real with fictitious elements and so we had a stuffed, not stuffed, how do you put it, a dummy chicken. It had its neck connected so I could twist it around. It’s how you kill a chicken in a non-industrial way. You might say it’s more humane than what they do in industries you know.” |
Babel opens tomorrow in theaters.rn |
“It is what goes on every day in life so you eat a chicken you should be able to kill it.” |
