CATHERINE O’HARA CONSIDERED OSCAR WORTHY

Tis the season where movie studios are beginning to push their films and stars for Oscar buzz in anticipation and hopes of receiving nominations. For Your Consideration is the latest satire from Christopher Guest and his improv team poking fun at the whole political process leading up to the Academy Awards. In the film Catherine O’Hara an oh so serious actress stars in Home For Purim, a possible Oscar contender for her character. |
Catherine says the film is definitely poking fun at Hollywood. |
“There was a little thing on line where somebody had been to the set and said you were giving an Oscar worthy performance. For someone like Marilyn it’s disturbing. It’s not like, ‘oh great this is nice, thank you.’ This is everything I rejected because I know I’m not of that world. I’ve never been invited into that world and I’m not going to be invited into that world and I don’t need you to even bring it up to me thank you. Don’t say it. It just opens up something that she has obviously given some thought to.” |
For Your Consideration which opens Friday also features Eugene Levy as a seedy agent, Jennifer Coolidge as the clueless producer of Home For Purim and Parker Posey coming out to her mother O’Hara during Purim dinner. |
“Well you might say For Your Consideration is about show business. And if I had to agree with that I’d say it’s the majority of people working in show business. But I’ll say it’s about wanting and how sad that can be.” |
