DISTURBED COMBINES WEAPON WITH FAMILY

(VIDEO) Disturbed is on the road with Music As A Weapon, they bringing a family flavor to the road.

Disturbed is currently out on their Music As A Weapon tour, and the band has taken a new approach to the road. Guitarist Dan Donnegan has a wife and baby girl, and they both have been welcomed into the Disturbed family. The band now travels with multiple busses, and Donnegan’s family regularly travels with the band.

Vocalist David Draiman talked about what it was like to live in both the family world and the crazy rock and roll world on the road.

“You know, we now have two busses where before there was one. There’s welcome changes. Danny’s famly is great. His daugher Mya is the most gorgeous beautiful little girl you’ll ever see. She brings a little reality to an unreal situation once in a while. She keeps everybody grounded. Ironically, the bus that should be the family bus ends up being the one where most of the partying actually ends up happening. Because I don’t drink, but the rest of these guys still do. So they get together with their wives and everybody else, pass around the oatmeal cookie shots and get crazy. Certain things have changed and certain things have stayed the same.”

Donnegan revealed that his family is on the road because he doesn’t want to do a long distance relationship.

“You know, I just have a bigger responsibility in my life. I have a child that depends on me and the support of my band members and friends to have them out here with me. It’s a new challenge for me to be able to ballance family and career and make it all work. I figure someday we all want to get there, and the guys will eventually have the same situation. You just have to learn to make things work. This is the way we live. It may not be the most ideal environment to have a family and raise a kid, but I wouldn’t know how to do it not being a part of her life. I’d rather have her be a part of my life and me feel like I’m doing the best that I can being around her all the time rather than having a long distance relationship with my kid. I just feel I wouldn’t be doing my job as a father.”

Disturbed is traveling as one happy family internally and externally with Stone Sour, Flyleaf and Nonpoint. The Music As A Weapon Tour wraps up December 22 in Madison, Wisconsin.
