DO NOT CONFUSE KILLERS MUSIC WITH MOUTH OF FLOWERS

Brandon Flowers, lead vocalist of The Killers has had some harsh criticism for up and coming bands like Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco and The Bravery in the past and because of his words, the inevitable feuds in the press ensued. It seems Flowers took issue with Fall Out Boy and The Bravery, calling them ‘Dangerous’ being too ‘Emo’ and even went as far to call Panic! at the Disco’s success was due to the fact they were ‘piggy backing’ on Fall Out Boy. He also took a shot at Green Day’s bashing of America during the trio’s tour of Europe supporting the American Idiot album.

But perhaps Flowers is turning a new leaf and he doesn’t want people to hate his music with The Killers because his out spoken opinions. We caught up with Brandon Flowers to talk about all the mud slinging in the press over the past year or two and how public opinion can easily be swayed by what they read in the press.

“It all depends how people are thinking when they read those things. It’s a shame the music can’t just speak for themselves and some of the reason, other than the fact that we look differently, we look cute though. Other than the fact that we’re very cute I’ve said some things that have led to people not going by their ears, but going by how much they hate me. Which sucks, because the songs are beautiful no matter how ugly my tounge can be.”

So has Flowers learned any lessons from speaking out about other bands?

“We’re learning our lessons but we hope the songs will eventually over come it.”

The Killers are once again up for Grammys this year with ‘When You Were Young’ which is up for Best Rock Song and Best Short Form Music Video at the 49th Annual Grammy Awards. The show will air February 11th on CBS at 8pm EST. The Killers are set to hit the road beginning January 13th in Tokyo and the band currently has dates booked until March with stops in Europe and Australia as the band tours in support of their hit sophomore release ‘Sams Town.’
