KT TUNSTALL FINDS RATS IN HER STUDIO!
KT Tunstall, fresh off her Grammy Nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for her single ‘Black Horse and the Cherry Tree,’ is back in the studio working on her follow up studio album to 2004’s ‘Eye to the Telescope.’ After having ‘Eye to the Telescope’ certified Platinum, KT will once again look to meld her hypnotic lyrics, genuine songwriting ability and delicate mix of her acoustic guitar. |
We caught up KT recently to discuss her new album and the direction it’s headed. |
“It’s really got itself some kind of spine now. It’s a lot faster in tempo in some places and it’s a bit rawer. There’s a bit more of an electric guitar presence because I’ve been playing electric a bit more. I’m really pleased with it. It’s a little more mysterious this time.” |
So what about any obstacles so far in the studio? |
“Well we found a dead rat in the studio. Which was interesting because we were suffering a really, really bad smell and Steve Austin my producer was playing the Rhodes and he said ‘I think there’s a dead rat in the Rhodes cabinet’ and he looked over and he said ‘ No, there’s a dead rat hanging in the window frame. And so we had to get our gardening gloves on to get rid of the rats. I think I need to upgrade my studio now that I have a Grammy nomination.” |
What was once only offered exclusively through here website, ‘Acoustic Extravaganza, ‘ the acoustic album that KT recorded on Christmas on the Isle Of Skye has been recently re-released and the album features brand new tracks, acoustic versions from ‘Eye To The Telescope’ tracks and a ‘making of’ documentary. Tunstall is currently working with Scottish band Travis on a song for their newest album, due for release in spring 2007. Tunstall’s new album is also tentatively scheduled for 2007. |
