VIRGINIA MADSEN UNDERSTANDS DREAMERS
Virginia Madsen can be seen on the screen playing a supportive wife behind her on the edge husband in two very different films, yet both The Number 23 and The Astronaut Farmer have something in common. They feature a woman backing her husband’s dreams no matter what; well until they almost lose the farm which is what happens in The Astronaut Farmer with Billy Bob Thornton’s personal mission into space. |
Virginia says she likes dreaming until it becomes destructive. |
“The real difference between dreaming and just being insane is how destructive you are with that. And that becomes Audie’s dilemma at one point of the movie where I realize that we may lose our home. We may lose the house to foreclosure and that’s where I kind of draw the line because I believe in him 100% until he endangers the family. And then I have to stand up for myself.” |
Virginia was attracted to The Astronaut Farmer because it’s a family film with a message we can all relate to, wanting to fulfill our dreams. |
“You know I think at the heart of it the movie is a real family film and that’s really important to me because there really aren’t a lot of family films where the whole family could go together and it could be worth the price of admission. Cause this film’s got heart and soul to it and it has moral lessons and it’s trying to say something about dreamers and our country and family and you know the love of husband and wife. And the story being told in the right way, in a really moving way; it has weight to it.” |
The Astronaut Farmer opens today in theaters. |
