FLYING HELPS TRAVOLTA AVOID MID-LIFE CRISIS
John Travolta stars as Woody Stevens, a stressed out 24/7 business man who even negotiates with the lawn boy in Wild Hogs. Woody is going through a mid-life crises and takes to the road with his buddies on a Harley Davidson road trip. |
John says wanting to hit the open road and escape life’s doldrums can happen at any time and isn’t only age-related. |
“Yeah I see that this kind of thing can happen at any age really but when I think men that are responsible and they have their jobs and their families and they feel a mundaneness setting in that there is an urge to change it up, and switch it up. It’s only logistics and permission from your ‘partner’ so if you can get all that together you hit the road but that’s often very difficult.” |
John Travolta is too blessed to be stressed by a mid-life crisis and his wife Kelly Preston seems to be a willing participant when it comes to just hitting the road, or in John’s case the air. Whenever the moment strikes Travolta takes off with family and friends in his private Gulfstream to explore the world. |
“It’s freeing. It’s therapeutic. It gets you distracted from the rest of your life. It puts things in balance. It puts things in perspective. And you know as Janis Joplin says, ‘it’s all the same F-en’ day’ and this gives you measurement. It says, ‘OK, stop, change, start.’ And I get to measure my life with something different.” |
John is doing something completely different in his next film Hairspray where he’s donning a fat suit to play a very full-figured woman in the role of Edna Turnblad. |
