JAMES CALLIS BATTLES FOR HAIR ON BATTLESTAR GALACTICA
When James Callis returned to the second season of Battlestar Galactica as scientist Gaius Baltar he stood his ground with the show’s director and producers who were determined to give his character a military buzz cut for a cleaner look. |
But James went to battle for his scruffy beard and long locks because he says it fit the character’s head space. |
“Then there was a slight worry in the first season where literally Harvey came up to me, he’s one of the producers and said, ‘you’re getting a hair cut and you’re getting a shave and you’re going right now. We’ve had enough of you looking like the missing link.’ And then because of all the torture stuff and where he was in his head space this year, I think nobody could dictate to me about how I was going to look. It really suited especially this season, the beard and everything it shows on the guy’s face. It made him look so much older and haggard and everything. And if I really did look like this you would think, ‘has he really been tortured. Has anything really happened to this guy?’ So it was extremely helpful for me and for the character.” |
On the next episode of Battlestar Galactica the fleet awaits the trial of Gaius Baltar. His newly appointed attorney Romo Lampkin may call upon Six played by Tricia Helfer to testify against Baltar showing mixed feelings for her former lover. Watch Sunday night at 10PM on the Sci Fi Channel. |
