ALL-STAR VAN HALEN POSSIBLE POST ROCK HALL AND REHAB?
Van Halen was inducted to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame at the Waldorf Astoria March 12, and Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony took the high road for the ceremony. The two members were not included in Van Halen’s latest touring plans, which hit a snag due to the rehab stint by Eddie Van Halen. |
Van Halen was inducted with three-fourths of the original line-up missing, and Michael Anthony showed nothing but support for the guitar virtuoso in his acceptance speech. Does he expect that the events of the night and Eddie’s rehab will cause him to pick up the phone and mend fences, possiby for him to rejoin the band? |
“I wish that would have happened before this because this night is so special. You never know. With this band you never know what’s going to happen, You all know that right now. I’m a never say never kind of guy.” |
Sammy Hagar, who recently toured with Van Halen but was left out of the current plans said he’s taking time off. In regards to a proposed All-Star Van Halen show with everyone, he said he’s not planning on it but a healthy Eddie might help the idea along. |
“Quite honestly, I planned on… After doing the fifty-something shows I did last year, I plan on taking this year of and just hanging with my family and traveling around. I haven’t done that in a long time, and then this came up and I kind of wish I would have booked a tour. I’m going to tour from my birthday in October and I’m going to through the rest of the next year. I’m sure Michael will be out there, unless Van Halen wants to do it. I’m not being funny. If we all grew up including me and Mike and all of us can grow up and maybe all of us do it together. maybe all of us do it together. I’m down with that. Anytime, anywhere. Let’s hope that Eddie comes out the other side better than ever, and I think that would make everything a lot easier.” |
Aside from alcoholism, in recent years Eddie Van Halen has been battling cancer. Although supposedly in remission, he suffered the effects from what was believed to be cancer of the mouth and throat. There has been no word as to a recheduling of a tour that was to feature Eddie and his brother Alex Van Halen, Eddie’s son Wolfgang on bass, and David Lee Roth on vocals. |
