DAVID MORRISSEY EXPLORES SPIRIT AND RELIGION
David Morrissey stars in The Reaping as a Louisiana teacher who enlists the help of Hilary Swank’s scientist when a series of biblical plagues seem to be attacking their small town. |
The star of Basic Instinct 2 says the story explores the themes of spirituality and religion. |
“On a personal journey of spirituality and religion it’s something that can enlighten you but it can also be a way of controlling masses. I think the film deals with that in a big way as well about how religion can control a community really.” |
One little girl played by AnnaSophia Robb may or may not be the cause of their bayou turning red with blood or an infestation of locusts swarming the town. David says he was enlightened by her spirit. |
“I’m always amazed by kids how they have such an ease and have none of the baggage that I seem to have anyway. She’s very professional. She’s very good along camera. She’s wonderful with her lines and stuff like that but she’s also like a really great spirit. She’s very funny, very bright. In the trailer us oldies are all trying to listen to The Killers and the latest sort of music that’s going on and she wants to listen to The Beatles so we’re secretly very happy about that.” |
The cast bonded spiritually during the shoot as it was filmed during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina where locations in New Orleans had to be moved to Baton Rouge. |
